Roe Kicks Off ‘Lost Dog!’ Era With ‘Team Player’

Derry-based songwriter roe is an emotional car crash with free will and an impulse to write.
A resident of genre purgatory, roe’s influences span from Irish to American artists like Orla Gartland, Medium Build and Rainbow Kitten Surprise that don’t quite fit the mold.
From a very early age she has captured her inner monologue and projected it on a global scale. Through live performances at Reeperbahn, SXSW, a UK arena run supporting Snow Patrol and through various placements such as in Tig Notaro’s ‘Am I OK?’, she has connected with audiences all over the world.
Her 2022 debut album ‘That’s When The Panic Sets In’ was called “an exceptionally sophisticated succession of confessional songs” by The Irish Times. Everything since has been made without a label or publisher, on her own terms and with a small, dedicated team around her.
‘LOST DOG!’ arrives on the back of a run of independently released singles that began in September 2025, including ‘The Moment’s Gone’, ‘Lydia’, ‘Bucketlist (apocalypse song)’ and ‘Adrenaline’, each of which drew editorial and radio support across Ireland and the UK.
Team Player:
‘Team Player’ is a tale of hypotheticals. Growing up as a kid who lived on the outskirts of friend groups, the feeling of belonging never stuck around.
I pictured ‘Clueless’ and ‘10 Things I Hate About You’ when I was writing, and if I were to throw my therapy cap on, I guess it was as a way to approach that specific kind of loneliness from an arm’s length.
Or maybe I’m just a sucker for 90s highschool rom-coms.

LOST DOG!
Nine tracks written across a year of grief, heartbreak and stubborn forward motion. In roe’s own words:
“All my life we’ve had a family dog. Some of my earliest memories are of windy day trips to Benone and Kinnego Bay where we’d run from sweeping waves and chase through fresh sand after the animal that had somehow became the glue that held us all together. Some people gather around a fire in the evenings, we tended to gather around the dog.
3.45 after school it was guaranteed that a wobbly mess of black and white fur would meet me at the door. No matter how difficult angsty teenage me had it that day, I would always look forward to an unceremonious cuddle and the inevitable slabbers that would cling to me in the wake of it.
At almost 19-years-old I found my forever dog. I’ve loved each and every animal that’s come into our home, but this one was different. Being that bit older, I became more responsible for keeping him alive. Around the same time we got him I was starting a new relationship and in my head the two became linked.
When it was his time, it destroyed me. Holes quietly appeared in my daily routine, the lack of elderly intermittent noises became stifling and the digital photo frame that sits on my parents’ mantel became a stabbing reminder of the grief that hung over us.
I felt painfully lost.
This album gently became apparent through the past year of my life, written while trying to navigate heartbreak and grow into the next iteration of myself. While in turn, these words are being written beside a puppy who’s spent all her energy chasing wasps around the room.
