Today, Cork/Limerick-based outfit Therapy Horse released their latest single, ‘SISTER TO NONE.’ This follows the band’s electrifying 2025 entrance, where they earned immediate recognition as one of Post-Brexit Pop’s Best Debuts of 2025.
Speaking on the new single, lead vocalist Emily Dollery says: “SISTER TO NONE came about as a product of our process of jamming and refining music. We have quite a collaborative approach to songwriting- like most of our songs, the glut of my lyrics came from a stream-of-consciousness approach during a jam in 2024. Though the bones of the song were there from our very first gig, it really took shape through gigging, as we continued to refine its structure and dynamics. I think it’s our most bitter song and, personally, one I find quite demanding to perform.”
Already a firm favorite at live shows, ‘SISTER TO NONE’ adopts a menacing tone from the start, characterised by thundering opening notes, whispered vocals, and a rumbling tom pattern.

“We wanted to scare the sh*t out of people a little,” says Cormac Donovan O’Neill (Guitar), “with the track’s opening salvo of noise, which was a later addition to the track; on our previous single, LOVE/MERCY, the dynamic build of the track culminates from an atmospheric beginning, but we wanted to take the opposite approach here in order to reflect the ear-splitting jam with which we usually begin SISTER TO NONE whilst playing it live. We’ve been playing SISTER TO NONE since near to the band’s earliest days, and the process of refining its various parts and dynamics has been a long one, but we’re delighted to where Andy and ourselves have managed to get the track to and excited to be sharing it.”
The track was recorded live in a single 12-hour session at the band’s rehearsal space by friend and collaborator Andy Killian. Discussing her influences, Dollery explains: “Sonically, I was inspired by artists including Chelsea Wolfe, Ethel Cain and Nerves, as I have always admired their ability to create a bleak, desolate atmosphere through careful consideration of musical texture and evocative vocal delivery. Where LET ME BE CLEAR touches on moving beyond the past, SISTER TO NONE is about the inability to stop ruminating over it.”
Regarding the track’s sonic landscape, O’Neill adds: “I wanted the electronic textures touched upon in LET ME BE CLEAR to really take centre stage on SISTER TO NONE, utilising spectral samples of Emily’s vocal along with a glitched-out reading of poetry beneath the walls of feedback. Artists who blend those low-end-heavy guitar textures with elements of electronica like Mogwai and SUNN O))) were massive inspirations for me in terms of my approach to the arrangement for this track in terms of how to blend those samples in without intruding upon Emily’s main vocal, which sits at the centre of a maelstrom of noise and jagged textures. Electronic artists like Autechre, who push the limits of their equipment in order to wring jarring and strange textures from their samples and beats, were a massive influence on my approach as well.”
About Therapy Horse
Therapy Horse made an electrifying entrance in 2025, earning immediate recognition as one of Post-Brexit Pop’s Best Debuts of 2025. With members hailing from acclaimed Irish shoegaze act Pebbledash, Therapy Horse forges a bold and cathartic soundscape, channeling the visceral intensity of Lingua Ignota, Wednesday, Mogwai, and Slint, alongside Irish innovators like Percolator and Elastic Sleep. The result is an exhilarating, exorcistic wall of sound that sets the band apart as a formidable new force.
Their debut single, ‘LET ME BE CLEAR’, dropped in 2025 and set the tone for their uncompromising ethos. Self-recorded in their rehearsal space with Andy Killian and mastered by Pete Maher (U2, Pixies, Nick Cave), the track melds searing noise with relentless, rapid-fire percussion and ferocious, unflinching lyricism. The song channels the anguish of powerlessness and the liberation that comes from embracing one’s anger, establishing Therapy Horse as fearless commentators and sonic innovators. September saw the arrival of their riveting follow-up single, ‘LOVE / MERCY’.
Therapy Horse’s live performances are a tour de force, radiating a whirlwind energy honed through relentless gigging across Ireland’s renowned venues.
