THE CORONAS FAIRVIEW PARK, DUBLIN FRIDAY 18 JUNE 2027

After more than two decades of albums, sold-out tours, Christmas shows, festival stages, and some interesting adventures around the world, The Coronas are returning to Fairview Park for a huge outdoor show next summer, subject to licence.

Taking place on Fri. 18 June, the show will celebrate 20 years of The Coronas – from the early days of Heroes or Ghosts through to four consecutive No.1 albums, and their forthcoming brand new release.

The announcement comes as Danny O’Reilly, Graham Knox and Conor Egan finish their hugely successful intimate Irish theatre tour, which sold out across the country, and prepare for four sold-out Christmas shows at Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre this December.

And they’re far from finished.

On 13 October, The Coronas release their first-ever double A-side single ‘End The Day With You / My Biggest Nightmare’ two very different songs that show contrasting sides of the band. “Like a double A-side,” says frontman Danny O’Reilly. “Old school, but a first for us.”

End The Day With You is a Beatles-y acoustic beauty, while My Biggest Nightmare is a chaotic, synth-driven scorcher about a gig gone spectacularly wrong.

While the songs sit at opposite ends of the musical spectrum, they share the same stripped-back approach. Recorded in Connecticut in early 2026 with Grammy Award-winning producer Peter Katis (The National, Hozier, Interpol), the sessions brought The Coronas back to basics, no laptops or tricksy post-production, just the trio in a room with Katis mixing live.

“It was such a cool way to work,” says Danny. “Peter mixed our last two albums, but this was the first time he’d produced for us and he knew how to shake us up. Rather than throw lots of instruments at songs, or multi-track the guitars, as we’ve done in the past, he filled the space with just us playing live.”

That sense of looking forward while remembering how they got here will run through next summer’s Fairview Park show.

Over more than 20 years together, with innumerable tours of Ireland, Europe, North America, and Australia, The Coronas have amassed the kind of stories that could only come from spending much of your adult life in a band.

There was the St Patrick’s Day in Tokyo, Japan when the Dublin band found themselves acting as Grand Marshals of the parade. There was meeting and supporting Paul McCartney, and receiving some memorable advice from the Beatle. There have been countless gigs in places they never imagined they would reach when they first started out and, also, more than a few things that didn’t go according to plan.

There was the Sydney show where Danny confidently greeted the audience with “Hello Melbourne”, unfortunately while the gig was being streamed live around the world. There have been torn muscles, trapped nerves and ankle ligaments, while Knoxy once managed to split Danny’s head open with his bass guitar on stage at the Olympia Theatre, Dublin.

And then there were the 50 unfortunate American fans who bought copies of The Coronas’ debut album Heroes or Ghosts after a show, took them home and discovered that, thanks to a manufacturing mix-up, their brand-new Coronas CDs actually contained The Best of Joe Dolan.

Through all the highs, lows and occasional mishaps, the constant has been the relationship between the band and their audience.

The Coronas emerged at a time when bands still sold CDs from the back of vans and at merch desks. Since then, Danny, Knoxy and Conor have navigated an industry transformed almost beyond recognition, while steadily building an audience at home and internationally.

More than 20 years later, the scale may have changed, but the fundamentals haven’t.

They are still writing songs together. They still regard themselves, first and foremost, as a live band. And, as the immediate sell-out of their recent intimate Irish tour and four nights at the 3Olympia this Christmas demonstrate, that relationship with their audience remains as strong as ever.

Before Fairview Park next summer, The Coronas will take to the road again, with European dates across Germany and the Netherlands in April and May.

Next summer at Fairview Park, those two decades come together for one very big Dublin night, the songs that brought them here, some of the stories picked up along the way and a glimpse of where The Coronas are going next.
