With only five weeks to go until Beyond The Pale returns to the Glendalough Valley, the much‑anticipated festival reveals a landmark global music moment that has been months in the making. Mike D, founding member of the legendary New York hip‑hop group Beastie Boys, will join the Sunday lineup for a live performance accompanied by a six‑piece band. Beyond The Pale, Ireland’s award‑winning boutique festival set in the beauty of Glendalough Estate, announces Mike D today as he is set to release his debut solo single tomorrow (Friday May 8) and unveils his first live project since the final chapter of Beastie Boys. Today’s major news also marks Mike D’s only European show announced to date, unveiled alongside the first wave of his US tour dates.

This marks the first time any member of Beastie Boys has stepped back onto a live stage since the group ceased performing following the passing of Adam Yauch in 2012. It also represents Mike D’s first Irish performance in almost two decades, with Beastie Boys’ final Irish show headlining Electric Picnic in 2007.

As one‑third of Beastie Boys, Mike D helped shape the sound and attitude of modern music. Today’s global announcement marks a major cultural moment. With new music dropping this week and his first European appearance confirmed to date, Mike D’s long‑awaited return makes his Beyond The Pale appearance one of the most anticipated Irish festival sets of the summer, and a milestone moment the festival has been working on behind the scenes. His new project, which will include reinterpretations of Beastie Boys classics woven into the live set, marks a rare opportunity for fans and one of the most significant international artist announcements in Beyond The Pale’s history.
