Copenhagen singer/producer Debbie Sings returns with new single “Ocean Breeze,” out now via The Big Oil Recording Company, the first single since her breakout EP Oh My, released back in February.
Heavy sidechaining pulses through the track, a mechanical, dreamlike exaggeration of the ocean’s ebb and flow, giving “Ocean Breeze” the feel of a pop-experimental sonic bed for post-summer nostalgia:
“Ocean Breeze is a love letter to the ocean, to being in love and to cowbells. The song oscillates between something very simple and the more complex. It’s a post summer look back to days by the beach, kissing in the sand to the sound of the waves.” says Debbie Sings.

An alumna of Copenhagen’s Rhythmic Music Conservatory, the school behind a run of acclaimed alt-pop artists including Erika de Casier, Smerz, Clarissa Connelly and Astrid Sonne, Debbie continues to draw on the Copenhagen scene’s loose, collaborative approach to songwriting, treating genre as something to move through rather than settle into.
Onstage, that same restlessness carries through: Debbie’s live shows are built out with visuals from Signe Dige and performance work, dancing and Bez-esque hypepersonship from Camilla Lind, the two of them embodying the chaotic, open-eyed, critically and socially aware escapism at the heart of Debbie’s music.
“Ocean Breeze” offers a brief, sun-bleached postscript to the world Debbie built on “Oh My,” hinting at where she might take things next. Following the sharp turn in sound and profile that “Oh My” brought her, with a first longer release also behind her, you can be assured her next move is unpredictable.
Debbie Sings’ previous releases have earned support from CLASH, Dork, Electronic Sound, NME and The Line of Best Fit, landed a spot on Spotify’s Hyperpop playlist, and brought Debbie to stages at Roskilde Festival, Radar and Kaleido. They have also delivered an early co-sign from Oklou, who wore Debbie’s merch onstage at Coachella after Debbie played a warm-up show for her.
