Uk Headline Tour Starts Next Week

Approved by Oasis legends Noel Gallagher (“Their guitars are great, sounds like the ‘90s”) and Bonehead (“Tune”), CUSP build on their status as UK’s best-kept, under-the-radar secret with today’s release of their phenomenal debut album ‘English Country’. It includes their current single ‘Forever, Forever’, which has received playlist support from Spotify (All New Rock and New Noise) and Apple Music (New In Alternative).

Hit play on ‘English Country’ and you’re greeted with a record that bristles with the vigour and vibrancy of a debut, but with the warmth and familiarity of an old favourite. Whether they’re delivering life-affirming indie-rock anthems, classic, effervescent guitar melodies or leaning into introspective singer-songwriter material, CUSP’s have crafted an expansive record built on melody, honesty and atmosphere. It’s a set that will appeal to a diverse audience, including fans of Oasis, The Verve,  Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, The Verve, Shack and Aztec Camera.

The record’s string arrangements are symbolic of their growing ambition and powers, creating a widescreen cinematic scale that’s rare among guitar bands on their debut album. Thematically the album captures the intimacy and relatability of day-to-day life of twentysomething life, sourcing self-belief while seeking transcendence and longing for a brighter future.

Vocalist / guitarist Dan Stock says, “We always wanted to make a timeless record. Songs that are rooted in normal life but also reach for something bigger and almost spiritual. There’s an emotional and musical depth to it that just comes naturally at this point. There’s a lot of ambition in the sound of the record, but underneath it all there’s honesty and vulnerability. If a lyric made me uncomfortable, I kind of knew I had to keep it and push further in that direction.

When I’m really in my stride, the songs arrive effortlessly – like tuning into the radio inside my head. I’ve always loved albums that completely transport you, where every song flows into the next and creates a world that you can live inside. I think we ended up with an album that hits you immediately but also has deeper layers to it. A lot of modern music feels disposable now, we wanted to make something that will sound as good today as it will in 50 years.”

Those qualities all resonate through their recent singles – the anthemic intensity of the title track, the string-soaked melancholy of ‘Me And Lily In The Falling Rain’, and the brilliance of the Tom A. Smith collab ‘Human Nature’. The current single ‘Forever, Forever’ bursts from the speakers in a blaze of jangly indie-pop, its hook as instantly insistent as they come. But its bright, buoyant melody is countered by a lovelorn lyricism with an undercurrent of cinematic darkness. There’s a confident vulnerability, a desperation, and an inner sadness in realising that if a relationship can’t be forever, the impermanence of a fleeing connection is worth taking a chance on.

CUSP’s year has seen them win over new fans at numerous festivals including the Isle of Wight, Truck, Y NOT?, The Great Escape, Liverpool Sound City and more. They will celebrate the release of ‘English Country’ by embarking upon a UK headline show, tickets for which are available HERE.
