Today [Wednesday 22nd April 2026], the critically acclaimed London-based Ethiopian-Egyptian artist and curator Alewya releases “Selah”, via Because London Records. The track received its first play today on BBC Radio 6 Music as a premiere with Nick Grimshaw and has recently been included in the FIFA 26 soundtrack.
Produced by longtime collaborators Busy Twist, the force behind fan favourites “Play” and “Sweating”, “Selah” is packed with raw energy. Fuelled by pulsing instrumentation and an infectious bassline, layered with her effortlessly flawless vocals, the track is driven by Alewya’s distinctive essence.

Directed by Iggy London with Creative Direction by Lee Trigg, the accompanying video features Alewya surrounded by colour and movement, as a London party comes alive with dancers, energy and collective release. The video also features movement director Kitz Katila who previously featured in the Zuggy video.
Rooted in a club-ready afro-infused sound, “Selah” reveals another dimension of her forthcoming debut album, ‘ZERO’, set for release on 26th June.

About Alewya
Alewya is an Ethiopian-Egyptian, singer, producer and visual creative whose work bridges continents and disciplines. Raised in West London, she represents a new generation of artists redefining global music – rooted in heritage yet unbound by it. Describing herself as a painter who makes music, Alewya approaches sound as texture and feeling, guided more by intuition than structure.
What started as painting and graffiti evolved into animation and eventually music, where Alewya began producing her own beats to bring her visual world to life. In 2021, she released her debut project ‘Panther in Mode’, which introduced her as a fearless new voice in the UK alternative music scene, earning critical acclaim for its fusion of Afro-electronic percussion, and striking visual identity. Since then, Alewya has captivated audiences through a COLORS performance , a collaboration with Moses Boyd, and live appearances at Pitchfork Paris, Glastonbury, Meltdown, and on tour with Little Simz.
