All eyes on Oranmore as Momentum Festival Kicks off This Bank Holiday Weekend
Get Ready For Momentum festival
Momentum rises this week as Galway’s newest festival prepares to kick off its inaugural four-day event this bank holiday weekend.
Sunshine and excitement have taken over the village as a nightly audience of 4,200 people are set to arrive at the picturesque village of Oranmore from Friday 1st to Monday 4th May 2026, setting the tone for a weekend where live music, community and place come together to create moments that matter.
The festival is expected to contribute €3.5 million to the local economy, supporting hospitality and retail businesses throughout the village.
All performances will take place under The Crescendo Tent – the beating part of Oranmore – a tented live music space designed to elevate the live experience while keeping audiences close to the moment.
FRIDAY, MAY 1ST
Momentum launches with Irish rock icons The Stunning, joined by electrifying trio The Riptide Movement and spellbinding singer-songwriter Tracy Bruen.
SATURDAY, MAY 2ND
A singalong like no other comes to the West for the first time as The Big Day Out brings 90s and 00s nostalgia from Sonique, B*witched, D:Ream, Rednex, Mark McCabe, Naughty Noughties and your host for the day, Fergal D’Arcy.
SUNDAY, MAY 3RD
Brought to you in association with Brandon Ceilings and Partitions Ltd.
Chart-topping purveyors of anthemic tunes, The Coronas, will be joined by soul-pop artist Calum Agnew and singer-songwriter Oscar Blue; two fast-rising solo artists in the Irish music scene.
MONDAY, MAY 4TH
Closing the festival’s inaugural weekend are folk-metal noisemakers The Scratch, who are joined by indie-rock powerhouse Cliffords and rapidly ascending dark folk band Madra Salach, alongside special guests Talllon and Groev – two of Galway’s most exciting local acts.
Providing a launchpad for rising talent to reach national audiences, Momentum’s Monday line-up underlines the festival’s commitment to supporting the county’s thriving music scene.
