Irish Band Pebbledash’s Cinematic Lament ‘Carraig Aonair’ Makes Appearance In Steven Knights New Series ‘House Of Guinness’
Released in 2024, “Carraig Aonair” is the band’s interpretation of an as Gaeilge traditional séan nós, blending genres as synth player Cormac Donovan O’Neill layers the piece with an ambient yet raw touch. The track is sung by Asha Egan McCutchron, who delivers a soft but sorrowful performance, with lyrics that explore themes of grief intertwined with nature. Recorded by Andy Killian, this lament was originally composed by Conchubhar Ó’Laoghaire in the 1690s. The song honors his three sons and a son-in-law who drowned after their fishing boat was wrecked on a rock, marking a tragic event that the lament poignantly describes as a tribute to their loss.
