The Kates – Intoxicating Performance
The Kates Live at Night and Day Festival
While Queen Medb held court as the main stage of The Night and Day Festival, the more intimate Lunar venue offered a glimpse into some of Irelands emerging artists. Among them, The Kates took to the stage.
Having never encountered their music before, it was one of those awe-inspiring moments, the kind that leaves you entranced by the performance and incessantly raving about them long after the final note.
This ensemble of talented women—Liz Clark, Mide Houlihan, Eve Clague, MaryBeth O Mahony, and Paula K O Brien—from the verdant landscapes of West Cork, swiftly captivated the audience, who eagerly hung onto their every note.
Their robust setlist featured tracks like “Breathe In,” “Unbalancing,” “Hot Headed,” “Seventeen,” an impressive rendition of Big Thief’s “Not,” and culminated with their newly released “All That Talk” before concluding with “Always.”
The Kates not only deliver an enchanting performance but also exude a camaraderie that is irresistibly magnetic. This rapport draws you closer, until you find yourself swaying to the intoxicating vocals of “All That Talk”. while being swept away in your own reverie.
The Kates are more than just a band they are a colective of talent each bringing their own uniqueness to the performance, without doubt one of the WOW moments from the festival.
