Indie-Rock’s Next Hopes Share New Single ‘The Curse’ – Listen Here
The Second Track from Their Debut Ep ‘Mr Penny’
Coming Soon Via This Feeling Records / Lab Records
UK Headline Tour Starts This Month
The Cases were already firmly on the rise as they boosted their early independent releases with an immense TikTok following. But they’re now flying following their recent single ‘Mr Penny’, which was their first release under a new deal with rock ‘n’ roll tastemakers This Feeling Recordings in partnership with LAB Records (The K’s). After that track earned airplay from John Kennedy and adds to key Apple Music playlists including New In Rock UK, the young Preston quartet now share their follow-up, ‘The Curse’.
The melancholy intro to ‘The Curse’ suggests that The Cases are taking a different lane from the effervescent energy upon which they’re forging their reputation. Then suddenly they hit their foot on the accelerator and unleash a charging-but-charming blur of indie-pop melody that’s as addictive as it is exhilarating. It’s the sound of a band who love the bands that preceded them – ‘90s Britpop and the best of the 2000s scene – and are out to prove that they can be the band to take that tradition into 2026.

Vocalist / rhythm guitarist Harry Hornsby says, “‘The Curse’ captures the slow, heavy realisation that comes with living through a difficult period. It begins in a place of hesitation and emotional weight, reflecting how hard times rarely hit all at once. But as the song unfolds, so does a sense of clarity and determination. What starts as uncertainty builds into resolve, documenting the moment you decide to take control, make your mind up, and move forward. It’s a song about recognising the darkness, and choosing to rise above it.”
Both songs feature on their upcoming debut EP, also titled ‘Mr Penny’. As the two tracks hint towards, the EP collectively tells a universally relatable story of faltering young love. While ‘Mr Penny’ focused on a relationship unravelling after a dream start, ‘The Curse’ is about coming to terms with the heartbreak that follows. The rest of the tale will be told as more new music emerges, but minor spoiler: the optimism for what’s to come outshines the sadness of what has been lost.
The band – completed by Will Bullen (lead guitar), James Maher (bass) and Matt Barron (drums) – recorded the EP during self-financed sessions at Kempston Street, Liverpool with producer Chris Taylor (The Lathums, Blossoms, Courteeners). The result is a set which perfectly blends their rambunctious roots with their arena-destined potential.
And if you still need to be convinced, this month brings the chance to see them in action. Four of their upcoming headline shows are long sold-out, while limited final tickets remain available HERE for Glasgow and Edinburgh.
