Holly Humberstone has shared her latest single “Die Happy”, a gothic-tinged love song that feels like tumbling into a dark fairytale. The track arrives with a shadowy visualiser directed by Silken Weinberg (Ethel Cain), signalling the start of a new chapter for the Grantham-born artist.
Since releasing her breakout EP Falling Asleep At The Wheel five years ago, Humberstone has built a cinematic, deeply personal world that’s taken her from the haunted rooms of her family home to stages at Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, and Wembley Stadium supporting Taylor Swift.
“I wrote Die Happy thinking about a fairytale at night — somewhere between driving fast with the windows down and wandering through a crumbling old house,” Humberstone explains. “I took inspiration from The Bloody Chamber and Dracula. There’s danger in love.”
