Irish a cappella group Ardú’s journey on The Voice UK came to an end yesterday evening, with the ensemble bowing out at the battle rounds despite a captivating performance.
In a shock twist, Ardú’s battle competitor, trio Bella Popera, also did not make it through to the semi-finals.
A devastated coach Will.i.am praised, “The feeling that you guys gave me, you transported me to the best of humanity” and thanked both groups.
With the competition fierce and the standard higher than ever this season, Ardú exit the series with pride, having wowed the American record producer and artist at their blind audition several weeks ago, where they performed a mashup of Doechii’s ‘Anxiety’ and Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’.
He exclaimed a breathless “wow” in the middle of Ardú’s performance of ‘Home’ by Edward Sharpe and the Magenic zeros, with guest Cheryl Cole adding “I never heard anything like this before”.
Ardú celebrate the achievement of being the first Irish a cappella ensemble and the biggest group to ever compete on The Voice UK.
The group said: “Being a part of The Voice UK has been an incredible experience. We have had so much fun between auditioning, being selected for the show, having Will.i.am turn for us, and getting through to the battle rounds. We say goodbye to the stage with our heads held high – it’s been a truly rewarding experience and we can’t wait for what the year ahead brings!”.

The band look ahead to an exciting rest of the year: Their co-headline tour with acclaimed British a capella group The Apex Singers kicks off later this month, they have released new single ‘Fool X Power Over Me’ which will make its live debut during the tour, and are soon-to-announce their next album.
