Telekura set for headline Dublin show at Whelan’s this November
Named after a telephone-dating service, telekura is a Dublin-based collective born from a shared love for a maximalist sound.
Founded by Stephen Purcell and Rachel Tan – two neighbours who cycled past each other daily but made music exclusively apart – the band has evolved into a creative partnership with Liam Brady on drums, Risa Hanamoto on synths and Michael O’Sullivan on bass. The telekura sound is a vivid anomaly: a fusion of acid-soaked electronica and technicolour psyche-pop that draws from every era without being tethered to one.

They’ve been championed by Spotify, received support on BBC Radio 6 Music, and covered by both the Irish and UK press. To date, telekura have supported Nation Of Language, Night Tapes and Burglar, played sets at Forbidden Fruit festival and Ireland Music Week, and will appear at Left Of The Dial and Pro Weekend Fest.
