Féile Beag is back – and Thurles’ favourite grassroots festival is ready to own the August Bank Holiday weekend once again.

Returning to Hickey’s Pub in the heart of Thurles, Féile Beag has quietly become one of the town’s defining musical events. Inspired by the legendary Féile festivals of the 1990s – better known to a generation of Irish music fans as the iconic “Trip to Tipp” – the festival has carved out its own identity, bringing together an eclectic mix of artists and audiences for a weekend of live music, discovery and celebration.

This year’s event brings a subtle but welcome shake-up to the festival format, with Friday reimagined as an all-ages event. It’s a move that puts the spotlight firmly on emerging young artists, offering a platform for the next wave of talent and reinforcing Féile Beag’s commitment to nurturing Thurles’ thriving grassroots music scene.

With Friday’s line-up featuring Steeple View, Anglesea, The Grapevine and this year’s Tipperary Battle of the Bands winners, Paradise Conspiracy, expect tickets to move fast. It’s a bill packed with emerging talent, making the festival’s new all-ages opening night one of the most intriguing additions to Féile Beag this year.

Saturday keeps the momentum going with a bill that balances familiar favourites and fresh energy. Small Fish, Mama Martin, The Jobseekers, Mister Wells and Locklin all feature across the evening before Monticelli closes the night with a headline set that should provide a fitting finale to another packed day of live music.

Sunday has long been one of Féile Beag’s standout days, and this year’s closing line-up looks set to keep that tradition alive. Looks Like Eve, GOGGA, The Shane McGuire Band, Bright Falls, Strings & Things, U-Turn and Gobán Saor all feature before The Mighty Jester brings the festival to a close. With a new album on the horizon, there’s every chance the crowd could get an early taste of some fresh material alongside the band’s live favourites.

Once again, Féile Beag is supporting Jigsaw Tipperary, with the festival continuing its commitment to raising funds for youth mental health services in the county. Tickets are on sale now, but with anticipation building and demand expected to be high, anyone planning to make the trip would be wise to secure theirs sooner rather than later.
