RuntheRed Confirm Their Rising Status At Beyond The Pale – Review
Run The Red Light Up The RTÉ Outpost Stage
I spent a fair chunk of Beyond The Pale darting back and forth to the RTÉ Outpost Stage, which quietly became one of the festival’s most rewarding destinations for discovering emerging talent.
Among the artists vying for attention, RuntheRed were one of the first bands to genuinely stop me in my tracks. The Irish indie outfit have been steadily building a reputation on the music scene and judging by the crowd gathered in front of the stage, word is clearly getting around.
Opening with the powerful Madeline, RuntheRed wasted little time making an impression. The track ebbs and flows with a dreamlike tempo, shifting effortlessly between moments of hushed introspection and soaring release, all anchored by the beautiful, captivating vocals of Ciara Duffy.

What followed was a run through crowd-pleasers Haunted, Elizabeth Jane, Unreleased and The Subway, each one warmly received by the steadily growing audience. But it was Ghost Now, Indigo and Natural Disaster that emerged as the set’s defining moments. Showcasing the band’s ability to marry indie textures with genuine emotional depth, the trio of tracks underlined just why RuntheRed are generating such a buzz on the Irish indie scene.
Verdict
RuntheRed’s catalogue is already impressively strong, evoking shades of The Cranberries and The Corrs without ever feeling derivative. Instead, the band are carving out a distinctive sound of their own, one that cuts through the noise of an increasingly crowded indie landscape. This was a cracking set from a band with both the songs and the confidence to match their growing reputation — and one that deserves to be firmly on your watchlist.
