Momentum Festival is proud to announce the addition of dance music legend Sonique to this year’s line-up, bringing one of the most distinctive voices and most influential careers in electronic music to Galway on Saturday, May 2nd.
Sonique joins B*Witched, D:Ream, Mark McCabe, Rednex, DJ Fergal D’Arcy and the Naughty Noughties for Momentum’s Big Day Out in Galway this May Bank Holiday Weekend, adding another major name to what is shaping up to be one of the standout live events of the summer.
A true pioneer of club culture, Sonique has shaped dancefloors across the world for more than three decades. As a singer, DJ and producer, she helped define the sound of late-90s and early-2000s electronic music, and remains one of the most respected and recognisable figures in the genre.

Best known for her era-defining anthem ‘It Feels So Good’, which topped the UK charts and broke into the US Top 10, and has sincesurpassed 150 million streams on Spotify, Sonique became a global star with her million-selling album Hear My Cry. The record also produced the hit singles ‘Sky’ and her celebrated reinterpretation of ‘I Put A Spell On You’, cementing her reputation as a singular talent capable of bridging club music, pop and powerful live performance.
Her achievements were formally recognised when she won Best British Female Artist at the Brit Awards, alongside nominations that placed her among the most important voices in British music. She also received International Hit of the Year at the Ivor Novello Awards, confirming the songwriting strength behind her chart success.
Long before her solo breakthrough, Sonique was already making waves as part of the influential electronic outfit S’Express, before carving out a path that would see her become one of the first female artists to successfully combine live vocals with DJ performance on an international scale. After years honing her craft, she held prestigious residencies at iconic clubs including Cream and Manumission in Ibiza and has since performed worldwide.
Her enduring appeal was demonstrated again in March 2024 when she performed a sold-out headline show at London’s Royal Festival Hall with full band, string quartet and choir, earning critical praise and reaffirming her status as a powerful live performer whose music continues to resonate across generations.
Momentum Festival organisers said:
“Sonique is one of the defining voices of dance music. She represents exactly what Momentum is about: artists who changed the culture, shaped the sound, and still create unforgettable moments on stage. After being blown away by her Glastonbury 2024 set, we knew that we wanted to bring her to Galway. We know that it’s going to be a special moment under The Crescendo Tent when she takes to the stage to belt out the club classic that is ‘It Feels So Good’ – which has over 150 million streams on Spotify alone!”
Sonique joins a growing Momentum Festival programme celebrating artists who move music forward while creating moments that last.
Momentum Festival takes place in Galway across the May Bank Holiday weekend, with Sonique performing Saturday, May 2nd as part of Momentum’s Big Day Out – a day nostalgia in the west as DJ Fergal D’Arcy hosts an incredible line-up of 90s and 00s legends including Sonique, B*Witched, D:Ream, Mark McCabe and Rednex. Also just announced, the Naughty Noughties will be opening Saturday’s proceedings with 00s throwbacks, sass, and a healthy dose of chaos!
Friday’s Momentum sees The Stunning joined by special guests The Riptide Movement and Tracy Bruen. On Sunday, May 3rd, The Coronas will headline a line-up that also features Oscar Blue and Calum Agnew. All performances will take place under The Crescendo Tent, a tented live music space with a nightly capacity of 4,200.
