Florence Road Live at The Grand Social Dublin Review

Florence Road Have Arrived

Florence Road have been rising fast, and their recent trajectory suggests it’s only the beginning. Since inking a deal with Warner Records—an imprint of the powerhouse Warner Music Group—last year, the Irish outfit has become one of the most talked-about new acts on the indie-pop scene. The momentum surged even further recently with the announcement that they’ll be joining Olivia Rodrigo on her upcoming tour, a high-profile support slot that all but cements their status as one of 2025’s bands.

Florence Road

Hype can be a tricky thing—sometimes it flatters to deceive, and sometimes it doesn’t even come close to capturing the real magic. After watching them light up a sold-out Grand Social in Dublin last night, I can say without hesitation: the buzz around them doesn’t go far enough. From the moment they hit the stage, the energy in the room exploded.

They launched into the set with a burst of energy, kicking things off with Figure It Out, Miss, and Hand Me Downs — hitting hard and fast, each one building on the urgency of the last. The crowd was fully locked in, feeding off the band’s intensity. Then came Caterpillar, shifting the pace. A ballad-like slow burner, it pulled everything inward — the energy didn’t drop, it transformed. Softer, yes, but no less powerful and the realisation if you didn’t already know these guys are the real deal.

Lily Aron’s raw, edgy vocals didn’t just sing — they provoked, full of grit and emotion, landing somewhere between a whisper and a roar. Each word tossed into the crowd brings forth an immediate response. Backed by bandmates Emma Brandon on guitar, Ailbhe Barry on bass, and Hannah Kelly on drums, the chemistry between them undeniable a times looking at each other as to say is this really happening.

Florence Road aren’t just on the verge — they’ve fully arrived. The only thing missing from their arsenal is a breakout hit, and at the rate they’re going, 2025 feels like the year it’ll land. They’re easily one of the most exciting young bands I’ve seen this year. As for tonight’s performance? They were on absolute fire — tight, fearless, and completely in their element.

Anna Leah

Opening the night was Anna Leah, whose rich, soulful vocals immediately drew the crowd in. There’s a quiet confidence to her presence — nothing flashy, just pure, emotive delivery that made every note feel intentional. Her set blended heartfelt originals with a few well-chosen covers, each one showcasing her natural ability to connect. Even in a stripped-back setup, she held the room with ease. wonder how powerful her sound could be with the depth and texture of a full band behind her.
